Vanderbilts and The Votes For Women Tour in Newport, RI: Celebrate the Centennial of the 19th Amendment

Celebrate the centennial of the 19th Amendment with an entertaining, narrated, guided 1.5-hour driving tour of Newport’s many sights connected to women who influenced suffrage, such as Alva Vanderbilt Belmont, Edith Wharton and Julia Ward Howe.
Dressed as a suffragette, Newport tour guide Betty Czech, during the 1.5-hour driving tour, will point out where numerous, remarkable women, who helped win suffrage, lived or visited. Optional add-ons to the tour include (1) an audio tour of Marble House mansion where Alva Vanderbilt Belmont held two suffrage rallies and/or (2) a lunch at a local restaurant. During dessert, Betty will conduct a lively, simulated suffrage rally with participants taking pro and con sides. Tour participants will make their own arrangements for a vehicle. The tour is open to school groups, organizations, clubs, tour companies, and individuals of all ages. Dates, times and fees are negotiable.
